Welcome Back to TCS!

August 15, 2022

Dear TCS Families and Students,

We are so excited to welcome you to the 2022-2023 school year!  Our staff has been actively working to ensure that we will have an exciting school year.  Our goal for this school year is to maintain our focus on students and their academic, social, emotional, and physical well-being.  If there is something we can do to make this school year more positive and successful for your student(s), please make sure you contact the building principal or me so that we can ensure that all students have a fantastic experience in our schools.

The beginning of the year always has a number of housekeeping items.  To assist with this, we have listed a few key items below:

Transportation- If your student is eligible for transportation to school, bus times and bus stop locations can be found in your student’s FinalForms account.  If you have additional questions, call or email at 419-447-8729.

Food Service- Regretfully, the free lunch program sponsored by the federal government for the past two years has ended.  In order to add lunch money to an account, please use eFundsFamilies wishing to apply for Free and Reduced school meals can complete the forms and submit them as soon as possible to the student’s school office.

Start and End Times- Just as a reminder, elementary schools start at 8:45 and end at 3:15.  The middle school starts at 7:35 and ends at 2:25 and the high school starts at 7:30 and ends at 2:30.  High school and middle school schedules will be available in ProgressBook Parent Access on Wednesday, August 17.

School Supplies- School supply lists can be found on the district website.  High school students should arrive on the first day with the basics.  They will get supply requirements for specific classes in the first couple days of school.

Communication- We use SchoolMessenger to keep you updated about events and information.  Please make sure you are signed up.  Additionally, I will be at Bailiwicks Coffee House the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month at 9:00 am if you would like to find out information about the district or to bring questions, concerns, or ideas you may have for us.  I hope to see you at the first Coffee Talk on Wednesday, August 17th!

Technology- All students in grades 3-12 will be given a Chromebook at the beginning of the year.  While there is no charge for the use of the Chromebook, if a student loses, damages or misplaces their Chromebook, a fee will be assessed and the student can then be issued a new Chromebook.  The fee will be removed if the Chromebook is found and returned.  Additionally, if you have a TCS student who failed to turn in their Chromebook, case, or adapter at the end of the last school year, please remind them to return these devices to school on the first day.  All unaccounted for Chromebooks have been disabled; the only way to enable them is to return them to the schools. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to get in touch with our technology office at 419-448-5680 or by email.

Health and Safety- As a reminder, with COVID cases on the uptick, if your student is not feeling well, we kindly request that they remain at home to help us prevent the spread of diseases and illnesses.  Per Ohio Department of Health guidance, schools are no longer contact-tracing students.   We have our Tornado Academy for anyone who prefers to apply to be included in a remote option.  To notify your student’s school of an absence, please call SafeArrival, 1-833-837-7032.

Whether you have a student graduating in 2023 or in 2035, we expect to have your student grow and improve toward their goals and potential this year.

Go Tornadoes!
