Tiffin City Schools report card shows continued progress

Overall rating rises from 3 to 3.5 stars, with stronger student growth and gap-closing results

TIFFIN, Ohio – Tiffin City Schools met state standards overall and earned a higher rating than last year on the 2025–26 Ohio School Report Card released this week, with stronger student growth helping move the district forward.

The district’s overall rating increased from 3 to 3.5 stars. Both ratings fall within Ohio’s “meets state standards” category, with the increase marking a step forward. Five of the district’s six rated components now meet or exceed state standards.

TCS improved to meet state standards in Progress, which measures academic growth based on students’ previous performance. While Achievement reflects how students perform on state assessments, Progress helps show how much they are learning from where they started.

The district also improved to exceed state standards in Gap Closing. That component examines results against goals for different student groups and includes measures related to chronic absenteeism and gifted education.

Other highlights included Ohio’s highest rating for academic growth among students identified as gifted. The district also recorded lower chronic absenteeism, a higher four-year graduation rate and an increase in the share of students meeting the state’s college, career, workforce and military readiness criteria.

“This is encouraging progress for our students, staff and community,” Superintendent Greg Williamson said. “The report card gives us valuable information, but it does not tell the whole story of a student or a school. Our job is to use these results to build on what is working and focus on where we need to improve.”

The results also identify areas needing additional attention. Early Literacy remains below state standards, and TCS will analyze its current reading and literacy supports and evaluate potential improvements. Strengthening academic achievement overall remains an important focus across the district.

Beyond the overall rating, the report card provides extensive information about schools, grade levels, subjects and student groups. TCS administrators and educators are now examining those results more closely to identify trends, evaluate current approaches and determine where additional support or changes may be needed.

As that review continues, TCS plans to share further findings with staff, families and the community. Upcoming stories will explore both successes and areas for improvement, including gifted education, early reading, student growth and preparation for life after high school.
